Just Confirmed! Rembrandt Frerichs Trio Feat. Sylvain Rifflet

Exotic sounds from the markets of Cairo to the Jazz Clubs of Montmartre, Rembrandt Frerichs and his trio welcome special guest, French jazz sensation Sylvain Rifflet to Maastricht.

Rembrandt Frerichs has made a name for himself with far-reaching collaborations with everyone from Kayhan Kalhor to Hermeto Pascoal. His latest collaboration with hip, Parisian saxophonist Sylvain Rifflet fits perfectly. Sylvain has already been hailed as one of the top artists in a new generation of French jazz musicians.

Rembrandt is a pianist with a broad perspective. He’ll do anything to avoid following the beaten track. Constantly searching for new ideas and expressions, he explores far beyond the bounds of jazz, delving into everything from Iranian traditional to Baroque music. His curiosity has led him to constantly expand the limits of his musicality into classical, oriental and world music and beyond.

Rembrandt was asked to perform during North Sea Jazz Festival at the age of just 22, he has been nominated for the Dutch Grammy’s (Edison Award) and has even performed at the legendary Jazz-club Birdland in New York.

Sylvain Rifflet is a french saxophonist living in Paris, he’s played with musicians including Riccardo Del Fra and Kenny Wheeler and Didier Levallet and is the winner of the coveted Django D’or prize.
