Psychedelics and Analytical Psychology: A primer

Terms like ‘the shadow,’ ‘the self, or ‘archetypes’ are frequently used in the psychedelic space. But what do they actually mean? What are the theories behind them? And how could they enhance our understanding of non-ordinary states of consciousness? We will address these and more questions in February, where we will dive deeper into the ideas of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung and the field of analytical psychology. As a primer for the upcoming presentation on the 16th, we will come together on the 9th to discuss two articles and one excerpt from the book “Confrontations with the Unconscious” to get an understanding of basic Jungian concepts, and how they could be related to psychedelic experiences. Our meetings are open to everyone who is interested in the topic. If you want to join us, please sign up via the linked Google Form. Disclaimer: uniMIND is an international network of academic journal clubs focused on psychedelic research and altered states of consciousness. Our main focus is to connect individuals interested in learning more about psychedelics and their therapeutic potential. We meet up regularly to have discussions about different publications from this field of study. Sometimes, we are even joined by senior academics who discuss their own publications or research projects. Feel free to check out our Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/unimind_maastricht/
