Check out this map to see where all the bike parking facilities in Maastricht are. You can directly go to the Google Maps location of your choice by clicking one of the bike parking icons on the map.
1. Sheltered parking
There are 4 public bike parking facilities in Maastricht that are sheltered and a bit more secure. You can keep your bike at these locations for up to 14 days, after that, they will be removed.
- Stationsstraat – underneath the Central train station (free of charge for the first 24 hours, and after that, it costs a certain fee for a normal bike and a slightly higher rate for a larger or electrical bike every 24 hours that your bike is kept there or you could take out a yearly subscription. You need to use your OV-Chipcard to check in and check out. Alternatively, you can use your student card to check in and out if you’re parking your bike for less than 24 hours for free)
- Vrijthof – underneath the square (free but not under surveillance – you can enter on the side near the McDonald’s)
- Markt – next door to Peter’s Irish Pub (free and under surveillance)
- Kesselskade – near the river at the Old Bridge/Sint Servaasbrug (free and under surveillance)
2. Unsheltered parking
You can keep your bike at the public bike racks in the city for up to 14 days, after that, they will be removed. The inner city of Maastricht is a no-parking zone. If you don’t park your bike in one of the provided racks, your bike could be taken away by the municipality and you will then have to pay a fee to retrieve it. This is to ensure that people with disabilities are able to use the sidewalk properly and to prevent any accidents from happening.
3. Last resort
If all the bike racks, facilities and zones are full and you have to park your bike on the street, then make sure to:
- Park your bike at least one metre away from the kerb
- Choose somewhere safe to lock up
- Keep fire escape routes and stairs clear
