With Exam week right around the corner (or for some in full effect), we all know how crucial it is to stay productive. That’s why I’ve decided to share my favourite study spots, filled with libraries and cafes, that you should give a try soon.
Centre Ceramique
One of my favourite study spots in the city is the city library, Centre Ceramique. The cosy and peaceful atmosphere that Centre Ceramique brings is everything that a stressed student needs during these tough times. It’s quite spacious, with multiple floors full of study spots and bookshelves scattered in between. The fake green grass floor calms the mind and body, getting you in the right headspace to power on. Downstairs, there is a CoffeeLovers, so you can grab a drink or snack during your well-deserved study break.
Alley Cat Bikes & Coffee
Half cafe, half bike shop, only good vibes. One of my fav coffee/study spots in the city is Alley Cat. There is a very laid-back and calming atmosphere, with the perfect lighting that makes you feel like the main character. Also, they have these massive windows spanning the whole cafe, so if you’re looking for a quick study break, you can people-watch all along Hoenderstraat. There’s also many quick restaurants nearby to fuel you whenever you want. Don’t forget to order a coffee before instead of just sitting down!
UM Sports
If you love working out or are in a sports association, like me, UM Sports is another ideal spot to lock in. With two floors of study booths/spaces and private study rooms for groups, you can hit the books, and after that spend some well-earned time in the gym. There is also a café downstairs to fuel you through your study sessions and workouts. However, during exam season, UM Sports gets quite busy, so it’s best to grab a spot as early as possible.
SBE Mensa
If you’re an SBE student, chances are you’ve definitely had your fair share of time in the Mensa. From group work to casual lunch breaks in between classes, it’s an ideal place to study when you have class the same day. There are plenty of seats, so you never need to worry about finding a place to sit, and it is the ideal place to study with friends, making sure you ALL are studying effectively (in theory). One downside is that it can be slightly loud at times when loads of people are there, but if you have your headphones, this shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
Student Services Centre
Okay, now hear me out. I know the SSC is the last place any student wants to go, because it’s likely that you’re trying to fix a problem with your studies. However, the downstairs cafe by the entrance is such an underrated study spot. It’s quiet, relaxing, and the high ceiling is surprisingly comforting. It’s ideal for quick study sessions in between errands or classes, and there is usually space to sit. And, of course………… there is a CoffeeLovers!!
