Student Friendly Businesses- Dadawan

Home of some of the best Asian fusion food in the world, Dadawan is just opposite the station, convenient for when you stumble off the train desperate for food that isn’t from the AH to go. Their take away is “lekker”, but even better are the huge stone bowls you can get inside their restaurant. They don’t take reservations, but the line moves along quickly (and yes, on Friday and Saturday nights there will always be a line. This place is damn good).

The mixed rice bowls are super cheap for what they are; a massive 250oC stone bowl, filled with a chicken satay meal for 7,95 and if you can finish it in one go, then you obviously haven’t eaten in weeks. Most people are happy to tuck in, and take the rest home for a midnight snack or tomorrow’s lunch- staff are always happy to give you the leftovers in a cute paper bag. Not feeling mixed rice? There is also curry for 5,95 and delicious sushi rolls from 6,75, or healthy poke bowls. For a sit down meal in a proper restaurant, there aren’t many places better value than this.

And if you’re feeling thirsty, they can also mix you up a delicious (and cheap!) cocktail. This is one of the only places in the city where you can get fancy, colourful alcohol for less than € 7.

Our top tip- if you don’t want to queue, try going for lunch! The menu doesn’t change, but it’s often half as full.
