Furniture

Buying furniture is an essential part of moving into your new home. You can buy furniture second-hand, from furniture stores or online.

Second hand stores in Maastricht

An affordable option for furniture is to check out a second-hand store (kringloopwinkel). There are a number of Kringloopwinkels located in and around Maastricht. Kringloop Zuid is a very large second-hand store with a wide range of furniture and other household items on offer. You can also check out Vind-iets Kringloop. Usually, these stores will also offer a delivery service for an extra fee. They will also collect your old furniture for free if it is of a good enough standard.

Buying second-hand furniture online

Often, you can pick up cheap second-hand furniture through Maastricht based facebook pages such as Furniture for sale! Maastricht or Bikes and Furniture in Maastricht. Although this is usually the cheapest option, you may have to arrange delivery yourself. You can also take a look at marktplaats.nl, a website where people can sell old furniture or any other items.

Buying new furniture

If you do want to buy some new furniture, you can check out the regular furniture stores. The closest IKEA is just around the corner in Heerlen. The Belverede shopping area in Maastricht also has several stores, such as, Jysk, Kwantum and Leen Bakker.

Getting rid of furniture

When you need to get rid of furniture, and it is not a good enough quality for any of the Kringloop shops, you have to take it to the milieuparks at Beatrixhaven, Belvedere or Randwyck. There is usually a charge for dropping things here, but some things are free, such as electrical goods or mattresses.

Refugees who have been allocated housing are not allocated furniture. Various refugee support initiatives such as Vluchtelingenwerk or Serve the City may be able to take your wardrobe, bed and chairs that you no longer need.
